Bought the jerseys and skin-tight race pants.
We look ready to win,
Till we stop, still clipped in,
And do one slow, sad, sideways dance.

We’ll attack every hill with a roar,
Then… walk it (our calves are too sore).
The bomb down with grace,
Well, with dirt on our face,
And a shrub we’ve gone through. Maybe four.

But don’t laugh at our bruises and spills,
Or the questionable trail-riding skills.
Every wobble and wreck
Helps the school write a check,
And the PTA pays all the bills.

So sign up! It’s on April the first.
Fill your bottles and train for the worst.
Is there really a ride?
Well, we’ll let you decide...
But your check? That one can’t be reversed.
